Syntac® 450

Syntactic composite tooling material for thermoforming

Syntac 450 is a thermoforming plug and tooling material designed for very high temperatures (to 232°C ).It is inventoried in block, sheet and rod form for immediate shipment.

                                                                                PERFORMANCE
Syntac 450 is a rigid, high strength composite of epoxy resin and microscopic hollow glass micro-spheres.

Syntac 450 maintains its hardness at its maximum running temperature, exhibiting high abrasion resistance when used with abrasive sheets such as polyethylene and polypropylene.

Features/ Benefits

All Syntac materials are engineered to eliminate problems inherent in aluminum, wood, felt or Delrin tooling. Syntac tooling, because of the discrete air cells formed by the micro spheres, has low thermal conductivity. It allows the sheet to retain its heat, virtually eliminating the primary cause of plug sticking or fouling. Syntac plugs require little warm-up. They are dimensionally stable and exceptionally durable. They are easily prepared, and replacement plugs are quickly made if needed.

Applications

Syntac 450 can be used in a wide range of thermoforming applications, including components for food and medical packaging, aerospace, automotive, appliances and luggage. It is also ideal  for pattern making.
